AEPF 6 was held from 3rd - 6th September 2006 in Helsinki, Finland

The AEPF is a forum for NGOs and civil society groups that are non-state and non-corporate. It aims to bring the voice of the civil society in the official Asia Europe Summit, ASEM, and to create alternatives to its neoliberalistic agenda.

The AEPF was created in 1996 and it has held forums every second year parallel to the ASEM summit. The AEPF forums engage the civil society both in Asia and Europe to discuss common issues with Asia-Europe dimension.

Civil society activists from the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean gathered in Vienna from 10-13 May to attend Linking Alternatives 2. "Linking alternatives 2" has being organised as a major social encounter in Vienna, Austria on the occasion of the Fourth Summit of the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean Heads of State and Government. It carries the theme: “Social alternatives in a new era of Europe-Latin America relations”.

At the core of the Encounter, a Session of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal was held. It resulted in the indictment of several European-based transnational corporations for "legal and moral injustices" committed in Latin America.
